Floating Text in Brume

Postby Dizzyka on Wed Nov 21, 2007 10:53 pm

Hello,

What I'm after is floating text above my in game objects. Such as a truck with the truck's name above it "Truck 01". From looking through the forums it looks like this would have to be done with pipo? Is there functionality in the brume engine alone to do this?

thanks,
Dizzy.

Hi,

I think that the best solution would be to use a BrumeSquareTextured with the name of your Truck in the texture.
You can put multiple names in the texture file and then switch between names.
You will have to set the 'Billboarding' property to true and to add the Square as a Child of your truck if you want it to follow the mesh.

Brume also has a BrumeFont object (TestFont in the demo) but billboarding does not work well with fonts. I will fix that for next release.
