Flickering

Postby Matthijs on Fri Apr 25, 2008 8:23 am

Dear Brume Users,

I am building a game in which a squirel gets to snowboard from a mountain.
The mountain im using is a BrumeLightenedObject with physics and collission.
By now Im testing the game with a sphere rolling down the mountain.
What Im basicly doing is to let my camera fpsfollow the sphere and fpsorient itself according to the mouse (camera rotates around the ball at a fixed distance) .
However the ball seems to flicker/being drawn a little ahead and then being drawn at its original position again.
Has this something to do with the way I am using the camera or is this an ODE issue?

Regards,

Matthijs

Hi Matthijs,

Well I don't think your problem comes from ODE.
It looks like a move/render synchronization problem. Have you tried to move the object like "Tiny" in our demo app ? There is no flickering there (just test it using camera 3) and you can compare the points where camera is updated.
